Born and raised in Hungary, I’ve been passionate about sharing my native language and culture with others. Since 2020, I’ve been teaching Hungarian online, starting part-time and quickly falling in love with the process.

This course is best suited for learners who already have a very basic understanding of Hungarian. If you’ve completed an A1 course or have some prior exposure to the language, you’ll be able to follow along comfortably.

Before moving forward, we begin by revisiting the key elements from the A1 course and deepening your understanding of them. This review will help you strengthen your confidence with essential grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. From there, you’ll learn how to introduce yourself in more detail - talking about your background, interests, and daily life in a more natural and complete way.
Sentence Creation and Word Order:
Hungarian sentence structure can feel flexible and complex at first, but in this course you’ll learn how it works step by step. We’ll focus on mastering word order and understanding how meaning and emphasis change depending on where words appear in a sentence. With guided practice, you’ll begin creating your own sentences confidently and expressing ideas more clearly in Hungarian.
Food and Dining Out:
Building on what you learned in the A1 course, we’ll expand your food-related vocabulary and conversational skills. You’ll learn how to comfortably order in restaurants, cafés, and bars, ask questions about dishes, and interact naturally with staff. By the end of this module, you’ll be able to enjoy Hungarian hospitality with ease - whether you’re ordering a meal, leaving a tip, or making a great impression.
Clothing and Shopping:
In this section, you’ll learn the vocabulary needed to talk about clothes and personal style. You’ll practice describing colours, sizes, and different types of clothing, as well as asking for help in shops. This will allow you to navigate everyday situations like shopping for clothes or talking about what you’re wearing.
Numbers and Expressions of Order:
Once you are comfortable with basic numbers from the A1 course, you’ll take them further by learning how suffixes change their meaning. You’ll practice using numbers to express order, sequence, and frequency - skills that are essential for everyday conversations and clearer communication.
Seasons, Dates, and Weather:
You’ll learn how to talk about the seasons, months, and weather in Hungarian, expanding your ability to discuss time and plans in more detail. This includes speaking about specific dates, describing seasonal activities, and talking about the weather in natural conversation.
At Home and Daily Life:
Language becomes truly useful when it connects to everyday life. In this module, you’ll learn vocabulary related to the home and the objects you use daily. You’ll also practice describing your daily routine - from waking up in the morning and getting ready for the day to winding down and going to bed - allowing you to speak about your life in a more complete and personal way.
Building Fluency and Confidence:
Throughout the course, the focus remains on helping you move beyond memorized phrases and toward active communication. With practical vocabulary, clear grammar explanations, and structured practice, you’ll develop the confidence to form longer sentences, express more complex ideas, and interact more naturally in Hungarian.
Grammar in Context:
