Born and raised in Hungary, Iâve been passionate about sharing my native language and culture with others. Since 2020, Iâve been teaching Hungarian online, starting part-time and quickly falling in love with the process.

The course is designed for English speakers. Because English and Hungarian are very different languages, I explain things in English for most of the course so that you can understand the main concepts more easily.
No previous knowledge of the language is required.
The beginner's course is designed for those who are starting from scratch, which is why it starts from the absolute basics. However, the course is also perfect for advanced beginners, as the difficulty of the lessons will gradually increase.
You will learn:
Hungarian Language Fundamentals:
Hungarian is truly unique, so weâll begin by mastering the sounds of the alphabet. This will give you the confidence to read and pronounce any Hungarian word correctly and even spell your own name in Hungarian!
Learn each letter/sound and practice spelling.
Articles (definite/indefinite), numbers 1â100, and everyday foundational words. Verb âto be,â personal pronouns, vowel harmony, and negation.

You will learn how to introduce yourself clearly and naturally: saying your name, where youâre from, and sharing a little about yourself. From there, youâll learn how to ask basic questions - such as someoneâs name, origin, or how theyâre doing - so that you can begin building real conversations from day one.

Family is central in Hungarian culture, so weâll learn the words for parents, siblings, grandparents, and more - plus how to talk about them naturally in conversation. Youâll also practice describing people and things: from appearance to personality Â

Learn how to describe common places around the city - like shops, restaurants, and landmarks - and practice the language you need for getting around by different modes of transport with ease. Food is one of the best (and tastiest!) ways to connect with Hungarian culture. Youâll expand your vocabulary with everyday ingredients and dishesâincluding classics like gulyĂĄsâso you can recognize items on a menu or talk about your favorite meals.
Weâll also practice how to confidently order food and drinks in cafĂŠs, restaurants, and bars, from greeting the waiter to asking for the bill. By the end, youâll be ready to enjoy Hungarian hospitality with confidenceâwhether itâs a quick coffee, a full dinner, or a night out with friends.
